Lower the volume so the terrorists can sleep?

As you may recall, liberals were appalled that a few terorists had to endure waterboarding. To them, pouring water over the face of a terrorist was the epitome of evil. Sure, some of these people were responsible for the death of more than 3,000 American on 9/11 and would love to kill more Americans, and the information gained through these interrogation techniques also may have saved American lives. Of course, none of this matters. All that did matter was that we were
making murderers uncomfortable.

Now, we have another even more ridiculous controversey gaining attention. Many musicians are angry that loud music was played at Guantanamo! The CIA says it was done for security purposes, but Jaye Huckerby of the National Campaign to Close Guantanamo says it was not used as a, ‘”benign security tool,’ but as a way ‘to humiliate, terrify, punish, disorient and deprive detainees of sleep, in violation of international law.’” What’s next? Will there be protests because the terrorists at Guantanamo aren’t provided with king-sized beds, jacuzzis, and champagne?

The CIA claims that music was played at 79 decibels or below, which is the level of a garbage disposal, and far quieter than a typical rock concert. I can understand how being forced to listen to Britney Spears could be considered torture, but Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson at 79 decibels or less? Please. What we have here is a group of people who are out of touch with the danger facing our country, and the fact that they are concerned with “loud” music being played in Guantanamo tells me that there really isn’t any serious maltreatment of the prisoners to speak of.

Now that I’ve had a chance to vent, I think I’ll listen to some music at 80+ decibels.
