Robert Byrd is dead: Will the hypocrites mourn?
Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia passed away this morning. Byrd, who was 92, had been in Congress since the early 1950′s. When someone of his stature passes away, many in the media are quick to eulogize. In this case, it isn’t deserved.
Robert Byrd took pride in excessive government spending, especially when he brought it back to his native West Virgina. The “King of Pork” never saw wasteful spending he didn’t like, as long as it benefited his state. Of course, this wasn’t the worst of Robert Byrd’s actions. » read more

Arizona’s illegal immigration law is already working
It appears that the Arizona law created to reduce illegal immigration is working…and it hasn’t gone into effect yet! This is great news for Arizona, which will likely start seeing fewer law-breakers within its borders over the coming weeks.
Some may argue that this will just push illegal aliens into neighboring states. This is true, which is why other states need to pass laws which make life difficult for those who ignore our laws. So, where will all these people go? I have a few ideas.
After the law was passed, San Francisco and Los Angeles both announced boycotts against Arizona. Perhaps those cities would be good destinations for illegal aliens. After all, these cities don’t mind paying almost $15,000 per year to educate each of their children, or the strain they will place on their city. As a matter of fact, I often hear advocates of illegal immigration and open borders talk about how illegal aliens add much more to their community than they take. If that’s true, we would expect to see an economic renaissance in those cities. Hopefully, it will happen and we will see the true affect of illegal immigration.

Felipe Calderone wants to protect the rights of “migrants”
Does Mexican President Felipe Calderone ever listen to himself speak? The latest bit of nonsense comes after a 15 year old Mexican citizen was shot and killed by U.S. border patrol agents. The boy’s group came across the border and some were detained. When this happened, they began hurling rocks at agents, who needed to defend themelves.
The group came into the United States illegally, then started assaulting federal agents. Despite this, Felipe Calderone says Mexico “will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants.” » read more

Here comes the iPhone 4
Just when you thought the iPhone couldn’t get any better, it does. The new model will be slimmer, have expanded battery life, a front-facing camera for video conferencing, a 5 megapixel camera with flash, folders for apps, and high def resolution. If you’re a nerd, you probably want to get this ASAP.
The new model will be available on June 24th, and will be available in a 16gb model for $199, and a 32gb model for $299 (both with a 2 year contract). To top it off, Netflix also announced a new app that will be available this summer, which will allow users to stream movies on their phone. Unfortunately, the news isn’t all good. » read more

Barack Obama is looking for some “ass to kick”
Barack Obama is angry. Very angry. He’s so angry, that he’s looking for some “ass to kick“. By the way, that’s a direct quote from the tough-guy-in-chief.
Barack Obama has been getting a lot of criticism for his calm demeanor since the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Even some supporters wish he would get fired up. I don’t know about you, but his statement about kicking ass seems a bit forced, and quite frankly, laughable. For his sake, someone in his inner circle needs to tell him to drop the forced routine. This is government, not the WWE.

Helen Thomas retires
It’s official: Helen Thomas has retired from the job she has had for nearly 60 years. As you might remember, Thomas criticized Israel by saying it’s citizens should go back to Poland and Germany.
I have a great idea. Maybe Miss Thomas can move to Iran and write about the Iranian government. I’m sure her views would be very popular with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

How peaceful were the passengers in the flotilla?
According to the quote at the end of the video, the peaceful activists on board the ship were not surprised to encounter a problem, and were prepared for martyrdom. Their intention seemed to be to provoke Israel. According to several reports, Israeli soldiers were attacked, and after seeing this clip, I have no doubt those reports are true.

Student Loans: What happened to personal responsibility?
When I was 17, I considered many colleges. As the process unfolded, I realized I would have to stay close to home and attend a public college or university. This narrowed my choices to Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island. At the time (1994), RIC was about $2,900 per year (It’s about $5,000 now), about $1,500 per year less than URI. It was also much closer to my house. I was happy at RIC, but I didn’t consider it the perfect situation. At the time, I would have liked a more prestigious school, but thankfully I focused more on important criteria.
So, why am I bringing this up 16 years later? It’s because I read an article about a woman named Cortney Munna who racked up $97,000 in student loans because she insisted on attending a prestigious school. Ms. Munna and her mother are complaining about the large amount of debt and seem intent on placing blame on lenders for lending. » read more

Sister Nancy lets “the word” guide her votes
It looks like Nancy Pelosi is religious, in her own twisted way. Pelosi, who is Catholic, claims she is guided by “the word”, and that she will be judged by Jesus. Let’s add Nancy Pelosi to that long list of politicians (Ted Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy) who claim to be religious, yet conduct themselves in ways that fly in the face of church doctrine.
Over the years, Nancy Pelosi has been a staunch supporter of abortion rights, gay marriage, and assisted suicide. I tend to disagree with her, but I do agree with her stances on those issues. With that said, I find it hard to believe that someone with these views could present themselves as a devout Catholic. The last time I checked, the Catholic Church was strongly opposed to abortion, assisted suicide, and gay marriage. » read more
