Utah law should be looked at as a wake-up call
In the past two or three years, there have been a lot of events that should have served as wake-up calls for politicians and public officials. Another one of these events happened recently when Utah passed a law to encourage individuals to accept U.S. gold and silver bullion coins for their weights, rather than their nominal value. For example, the American Silver Eagle is a one dollar coin, but with the current spot price of silver at $38 per ounce, it is also worth $38.
There are a lot of people concerned about the economy, from survivalists who are waiting for a complete economic collapse, to those expecting slightly greater than usual inflation. Personally, I’m not expecting a massive collapse, but I am expecting increasing inflation and an erosion of the dollar’s value as the presses keep rolling. Making it more convenient to use gold and silver is a good thing which might encourages individuals to diversify their wealth.

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz calls Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut”
After the Ed Schultz’s comments about fellow talk show host Laura Ingraham, I think he’s lucky to have a job. If MSNBC had any interest in being a serious news agency, they would have imposed a longer suspension or fired him. Of course, they make no effort to hide their biases. Their minions like to complain about right-wing news sources, but let’s face it, MSNBC is the left-wing Fox News.
In case you missed Ed Scult’s comments, the audio from his tantrum is below.

Sarah Palin: Confused chopper chick
Sarah Palin is currently engaged in a tour of “enemy territory,” also known as the Northeast. Her first stop was the Rolling Thunder motorcycle event in Washington, D.C. Her next stop will be…she’ll be going to…where will she be going? If you check out the map on her site, it’s blank. I wonder if she even knows where she’s going.
I think Sarah Palin seems like a nice person and is very likable. There are lots of nice, likable people, but those traits don’t qualify them to be President of the United States. Intellectually, she’s unimpressive, plus she has a thin resume, and for me at least, fails to instill confidence in her leadership skills. Even her campaign/publicity tour looks like it’s unorganized. Plus, if Katie Couric of all people can make you look like an idiot, how can we trust her to interact with world leaders? I don’t think we can. » read more

Barack Obama hires a Blog Czar

Barack Obama has created a position called the Director of Progressive Media & Online Response. I just call it the Blog Czar.
Barack Obama has hired a new “Director of Progressive Media and Online Response” named Jesse Lee. Since Obama just created this position, there’s no telling exactly what it will entail. It seems like Lee will be patrolling the internet for stories they don’t believe to be true, while making attempts to enhance Obama’s online image. Good luck with that Jesse!
I wonder why the Obama Administration didn’t just call him a “Blog Czar.” From what I’ve read, it seems like a fitting title.

Barack O’bama visits Ireland
Did you know that Barack Obama is Irish? Well, from what I understand, neither did he until just recently. It turns out that Barack O’Bama’s great great great grandfather came to the United States from a small town in Ireland in the mid 19th century. On a recent trip, O’bama visited the town, met an eighth cousin, and hoisted a Guiness in a pub.
I’ve read some critiques of his visit. Some have said he decided to visit Ireland to appeal to Americans who claim Irish ancestry. Others have said it was done to stress that he is half white. Who knows if either of these played a role. All I know are two things: The photo ops were corny, and there’s no way you will see him visit Kenya before the next election.

Is Peter Fonda a racist?
While at the Cannes Film Festival promoting the documentary The Big Fix, Peter Fonda shared some of his thoughts on President Barack Obama:
“I sent an email to President Obama saying, ‘You are a f—— traitor,’ using those words… ‘You’re a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military – in this case the coastguard – what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do’.”
Those are pretty strong words. What I find funny is the lack of outrage from the left. Why is it that the left will criticize a Tea Party member, sometimes calling them racists, for supporting limited government, but not a fellow left-winger who calls the President a traitor in a profanity-laced tirade? » read more

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels won’t run for President
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will not be running for President, and I don’t particularly care. It’s nothing against Mitch Daniels. After all, he would be much better than declared candidates such as Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, or potential candidates such as Sarah Palin.
The problem is that Mitch Daniels seemed to be the darling of GOP insiders. That’s not what the country needs. The United States needs someone who isn’t afraid to step in and make bold decisions. We need someone who has little regard for the way things have always been done, and will try to do the right think, regardless of how many people it upsets, or how unusual the solution may seem. » read more

A majority of Americans support gay marriage
For the first time, a Gallup poll indicates that a majority of Americans support gay marriage. 53% support gay marriage in this year’s Gallup poll, compared to just 44% last year.
As a registered Republican who supports gay marriage, I’m disappointed and a bit surprised that only 28% of those in the G.O.P. support same-sex marriage. For those who think of the Republican party as a bastion of social conservatism, it makes perfect sense. Still, I find troubling inconsistencies. » read more

It’s official: Herman Cain will run for President
Herman Cain has announced that he will be running for President. The former businessman, talk show host, and chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City made it official at a rally today in Atlanta, GA.
Unlike other definite and possible candidates such as Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Newt Gingrich, and Tim Pawlenty, Herman Cain has displayed intelligence, straight-forward answers, and a genuine belief in what he says. I don’t get that feeling from the other candidates. Ron Paul is my first choice, but Cain has quickly jumped up to number two.

The U.S. government needs to have its credit cards cut in half
Let’s say you have an individual that is in deep financial trouble. This person constantly uses their credit cards, spends their money as soon as they get it, and are generally irresponsible. If this person is having trouble paying their mortgage, electric, and grocery bill, what should they do? If you have common sense, you would probably suggest that this person stop nonessential purchases. By doing this, they’ll have enough for their bills, and hopefully, some left over to pay off their credit card balances, which will increase their monthly cash flow.
That solution makes sense, but I have another suggestion. What if the person called up the credit card companies and asked for a credit limit increase? If the banks agreed, they could keep spending lots of money, then use the borrowed funds to take care of their monthly expenses. Eventually, they would reach their credit limit, but they could just make more calls to the credit card companies, and continue to have their credit limit increased. Problem solved! » read more

Donald Trump won’t run for President
It’s official: Donald Trump will not run for President. We won’t get the chance to watch Trump make a fool out of himself (even more than usual), but on the bright side, it will allow the serious candidates to receive more attention.
If Trump had decided to run, he wouldn’t have stood a chance. Of course, I’m sure he thought he would have. In the end, I doubt the American people could have tolerated his arrogance in such a large dose. Although, I would have loved to see how someone who ran bankrupt businesses would have tried to paint himself as capable of running the country.

It’s official: Ron Paul is running for President in 2012!
There are several Republicans who might run for President in 2012. There are some, like Newt Gingrich, that I could see myself voting for, while there are others, such as Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney, that I wouldn’t vote for in a million years. With that said, there is only one candidate whose honesty is unquestioned, and whose views on limited government developed from well-researched, strongly held beliefs, not because it was the hot idea of the moment. That candidate is Ron Paul.
Today, Ron Paul announced that he will run for President in 2012. Now, Americans are assured of at least one candidate who truly understands the Constitution, and will put forth a unified plan, rather than some hodge podge of ideas grounded in the polling data.
My only concern with Ron Paul is the probability that he will run as a Republican. Getting by some of the establishment names will be difficult, especially for those who don’t fully understand or appreciate his libertarian views. Ideally, I’d like to see Ron Paul run as an independent. With his built in following, he would surely have enough support to assure himself a spot in the Presidential debates against the Democrat and Republican candidates. Once those who are unfamiliar with Ron Paul had the opportunity to hear his idea, I have no doubt that his popularity would skyrocket. Unfortunately, an independent run doesn’t seem likely.
It’s my hope that conservatives and Tea Party members realize that Ron Paul truly believes in limited government, unlike those who merely parrot the group’s talking points.

The feds shouldn’t infringe on your liberty, that’s the states’ job!

Mitt Romney doesn't think the federal government should infringe on your rights, he thinks that's up to the individual states!
After watching Mitt Romney try to explain why Romneycare and Obamacare are different, I’m left with a question. Is Mitt Romney a liar, or does he just not get it? By “it” I mean small government.
To hear Romney explain it, Romneycare and Obamacare are nothing alike. Of course, any literate person can see that they are nearly identical. Later on, he says that one of the big differences is that Romneycare was a state solution, and was not pushed on the states by the Federal Government. I will give him that point, but still, his argument is lacking. » read more

28,000 people murdered, and no jail time?
A German court convicted John Demjanjuk for his role in the deaths of over 28,000 Jews. Unfortunately, the judge let him go!
I don’t care that he is 91 years old, he’s sick, that he has already served 2 years in prison, or that the crimes occurred nearly 70 years ago. He contributed to the death of 28,000 people, that’s all that should matter.
For those who argue that a sickly, 91 year old man shouldn’t be sent to prison, I’d like to point out that he had the opportunity to live for more than 65 years after the end of World War II. His victims can’t say the same.

Hey Mitt! Do you remember Romneycare?
Mitt Romney gave a policy speech on healthcare today, and not surprisingly, he criticized Obamacare. I don’t disagree with his views on Obamacare, but could someone remind him that he did a similar thing at the state level while he was Governor of Massachusetts. Romneycare, anyone?
I strongly agree with his speech’s focus on allowing states latitude to make decisions, portability, and free market solutions. Unfortunately, when he was in charge, he went the big government rout. Mitt has no street cred.

Omar Bin Laden thinks his father deserved to be treated better
Omar Bin Laden, one of Osama Bin Laden’s sons, is thinking about taking legal action against the United States for his murder, and for his burial at sea. Here is an excerpt from a letter reportedly attributed to Omar Bin Laden:
‘We hold the American President (Barack) Obama legally responsible to clarify the fate of our father, Osama Bin Laden, for it is unacceptable, humanely and religiously, to dispose of a person with such importance and status among his people, by throwing his body into the sea in that way, which demeans and humiliates his family and his supporters and which challenges religious provisions and feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims.’
So, someone who has killed thousands of people deserved better? I don’t think so. As far as his funeral service, he received much better treatment than I would have provided. Omar Bin Laden complains that his burial at sea “challenges religious provisions.” Many religions look down on cremation, but isn’t that exactly what happened to thousands of people on September 11, 2001? Did those people have a choice? Did their families? » read more
