Eric Holder supports civil rights...for some people.

Eric Holder says he has “reinvigorated” the Department of Justice’s civil rights division. Acording to holder:

“We’ve also expanded enforcement efforts to guarantee that in our work places, our military bases, in our housing and lending markets, in our voting booths in our border areas, in our schools and places of worship. And I mean all places of worship,”

That’s right. Holder’s DOJ protects the civil rights of everyone…except for white guys who are threatened by club-wielding members of the New Black Panther Party. If you think I’m wrong, think about how quickly Eric Holder would have acted if black voters were intimidated by armed members of the Ku Klux Klan. If that’s not a case ofreverse discrimination, I don’t know what is.

Again, just look at the picture above. Picture white men in Ku Klux Klan uniforms holding clubs outside a polling place. If that had occurred, this situation would have been handled properly. Unfortunately, the AG chose to look the other way. I guess only some people need to have their rights protected.

I don’t care that he is 91 years old, he’s sick, that he has already served 2 years in prison, or that the crimes occurred nearly 70 years ago. He contributed to the death of 28,000 people, that’s all that should matter.

For those who argue that a sickly, 91 year old man shouldn’t be sent to prison, I’d like to point out that he had the opportunity to live for more than 65 years after the end of World War II. His victims can’t say the same.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is facing several charges, and potentially, lots of jail time. The most scandalous was an allegation that he hired a 17 year old prostitute named Ruby. Both deny the charge, but today, a judge felt there was enough evidence to indict him.

I had a flashback when Berlusconi denied all the allegations and blamed it on a politically motivated left-wing conspiracy. Change the wing, and it’s right out of the Bill Clinton handbook. Of course, Bill Clinton looks like a Boy Scout compared to Berlusconi.

An elderly woman prevented 6 men from using sledge hammers to smash a jewelry store window and rob them. Once she drew attention to what was happening, other bystanders jumped in and helped apprehend four of the six men. If more people acted like her, the streets would be safer, and we would have less crime.

Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks

I think it’s safe to say that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is easily the most infamous person in the world. The big question is whether all the negative publicity is warranted.

Some have compared Julian Assange to a terrorist, and many have said repeatedly that he will have blood on his hands, since many of his leaks could endanger people. Of course, many of the people who are up-in-arms were also singled out for their own mistakes, so they might not be the best of choices if one is seeking an opinion. I’m not going to pretend there will be no negative ramifications from the Wikileak cables, but I do feel it will have some positive effects.

First, let’s start off by realizing that a lot of the information in those cables was absolute crap. Some mentioned the “voluptuous nurse” who travels with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, or Argentine President Cristine Fernandez De Kirchner’s anxiety problems. Who cares? Information like this is petty and of no importance. Of course, there were quite a few useful nuggets of information.

One important revelation that jumps to mind is King Abdullah’s criticism of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He would have never said anything of the sort in public, but it is good to see that Middle Eastern leaders aren’t completely in lock step. There was also Egypt’s comments about Iran’s role in sponsoring terror, which would have never been intentionally spoken in public. Then, we have information that China may be moving away from supporting North Korea. None of this information was meant for public discussion, but it might actually be positive in the long run.

Of course, there was some bad stuff in those cables, but that really isn’t his fault. For example, we found out that Hillary Clinton likes to turn diplomats into spies, which is highly unethical, perhaps illegal. That’s really what this boils down to: The government not wanting it’s inappropriate and unprofessional shenanigans exposed for the world to see. What seems to be forgotten is that their misdeeds wouldn’t have been seen if they didn’t exist.

Now, can we please spend less time focusing on Julian Assange and spend more time and energy tracking down real terrorists?

While gangs, kidnapping, and drug trafficking are running rampant in Arizona, Barack Obama is cracking jokes. Do you still wonder why illegal immigration is such a problem? Mr. Obama and his fellow leftists should just come out and advocate an open borders policy once and for all. After all, his administration is acting like it is already our policy.

As I looked at the list, I noticed that 3 of the states are along the Mexican border and have a large number of illegal aliens entering the state. Well, it looks like New York and Florida are in the same boat. It turns out that California (1), Texas (2), New York (3), Florida (5), and Arizona (6) make up five out of the top six states with the most illegal aliens. Is this merely a coincidence? Could some other variable be at work? That’s certainly possible, but you must admit that it is some coincidence.

No one should be surprised by the poor participation rates among illegal aliens. We are required by law to complete the Census. Of course, why would illegal aliens pay any attention to that small detail? They’ve already trespassed into the country and possibly broken other laws such as using fake I.D., identity theft, or related crimes. What’s one more infraction?

The next time you hear someone tell you that illegal aliens bring a positive benefit to America, remember this article. Remember how the U.S. will need to pay Census workers up to $25 per hour to track down those who didn’t fill out there forms, and how many of these individuals happen to be from states with large numbers of illegal aliens. Also remember how many of the people who don’t fill out the Census will be the ones who use the resources denied to their state because of their lack of participation.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wasn't charged in a sexual assault case, but was punished anyway.

Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault by a 20 year old woman. Police performed a thorough investigation and decided there wasn’t enough evidence to bring charges against him. Think about this: Not only was there not enough evidence to convict him, but there wasn’t even enough evidence to bring charges. Despite this, Ben Roethlisberger will be punished.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to suspend Roethlisberger for the first 6 games of the season. The suspension will cost Roethlisberger nearly $3 million in salary, and could be even longer if the League isn’t satisfied with the progress of his behavioral evaluation. Goodell readily recognizes that Roethlisberger wasn’t charged, but in a letter, he points out other actions that evening that undermine the “integrity” of the NFL:

“As the District Attorney concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that ‘undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.’ By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard.”

To summarize, Roethlisberger is being suspended for 6 games and losing nearly $3 million because he drank excessively and bought alcohol for a woman who was months shy of her 21st. Yet, Ray Lewis wasn’t suspended for any games after he was indicted on two counts of murder and later pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.

Does this make sense? There isn’t enough evidence to bring charges against Roethlisberger, and he’s “guilty” of buying alcohol for a 20 year old. What does he get? 6 games and $3 million. Ray Lewis is actually indicted for the murder of two men and obstruction of justice, and he walks away with a $250,000 fine and no suspension. Isn’t there something wrong here?

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signs concealed weapon bill into law.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a bill into law which allows adults to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. It’s nice to see that some places still take the 2nd Amendment seriously.

This bill has its detractors, but they clearly aren’t thinking straight. They might be worried about honest citizens carrying guns, but I’m not. What worries me are criminals who carry weapons for the sole purpose of committing crimes. You can pass a law banning people from having guns or carrying them without a permit, but in the end, the only ones who will follow it are honest, responsible citizens. Criminals will continue to carry guns, since someone who regularly assaults or robs people probably won’t care much about breaking another law.

There certainly is the potential for accidents, but detractors seem to ignore the potentially deterring effect of carrying a weapon. If criminals don’t know who is carrying a gun, will they think twice about committing a crime? It seems possible to me.

By the way, it’s also worth noting that related bills failed in the past. while Janet Napolitano was Governor, she vetoed bills that would have reduced penalties for carrying a concealed weapon and allowed partial concealment. Janet Napolitano is considered a contender for the Supreme Court. If chosen, she would almost definitely water-down and weaken our Second Amendment rights.
