Senator John McCain is facing a tough primary this year. Hopefully, he will lose to J.D. Hayworth, who is more concerned with doing the right thing, than trying to be everything to everyone. The latest example of McCain’s lack of political courage is his reluctance to take a stand on a bill in Arizona which would make it a crime for illegal aliens to be present in the state, and for people to transport or employ them. J.D. Hayworth has come out in favor of the bill.

John McCain loves to point out the time he spent fighting for the United States, along with his time as a P.O.W. That’s why I find it shocking that he would refuse comment on the bill and brush off questions about his opinion by saying it’s a “state issue.” He’s certainly correct, but as a long-time citizen of that state, he has every right to comment on it, and the voters have every right to know where he stands on the issue. Of course, I can probably guess where he stands.

We’re talking about a man who teamed up with the Bush administration on a bill that would have<del datetime="2010-03-27T19:49:09+00:00"> provided a path to citizenship</del> granted amnesty to millions of people who ignored our laws and deserve to be categorized as criminals. John McCain deserves to lose in 2010, and I’m confident he will.
