It appears that the Arizona law created to reduce illegal immigration is working…and it hasn’t gone into effect yet! This is great news for Arizona, which will likely start seeing fewer law-breakers within its borders over the coming weeks.

Some may argue that this will just push illegal aliens into neighboring states. This is true, which is why other states need to pass laws which make life difficult for those who ignore our laws. So, where will all these people go? I have a few ideas.

After the law was passed, San Francisco and Los Angeles both announced boycotts against Arizona. Perhaps those cities would be good destinations for illegal aliens. After all, these cities don’t mind paying almost $15,000 per year to educate each of their children, or the strain they will place on their city. As a matter of fact, I often hear advocates of illegal immigration and open borders talk about how illegal aliens add much more to their community than they take. If that’s true, we would expect to see an economic renaissance in those cities. Hopefully, it will happen and we will see the true affect of illegal immigration.

I just found this video linked from The Drudge Report. The man in the video is a high school history teacher addressing a La Raza rally. During his speech, he talks about “racist white people,” refers to America as the “belly of the beast,” and calls California “stolen, occupied Mexico”. As you will see, he also talks about the fight against capitalism and imperialism.

While watching this video, one question kept coming to mind: Why doesn’t he leave the United States and move to Mexico? If the United States is so evil, then leave here and go to a place that is more to your liking. In the video, he mentions his hero Hugo Chavez. Venezuela sounds like it would be a great choice, especially if you don’t mind the inflation rate of more than 30%.

I also find it troubling that someone who is so racist and anti-American could be teaching history to high school students. If he teaches 6 classes per day, that’s 150 victims he can attempt to indoctrinate each school year. I’d love to know how he teaches his students about the founding fathers, but then again, I’m sure I an guess.

Five states poised to add a congressional seat may end up losing out because of poor participation rates in the 2010 census. New York, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California are all lagging, and might have quite a bit to lose. As you probably know, the Census helps determine representation in the House and federal funding.

As I looked at the list, I noticed that 3 of the states are along the Mexican border and have a large number of illegal aliens entering the state. Well, it looks like New York and Florida are in the same boat. It turns out that California (1), Texas (2), New York (3), Florida (5), and Arizona (6) make up five out of the top six states with the most illegal aliens. Is this merely a coincidence? Could some other variable be at work? That’s certainly possible, but you must admit that it is some coincidence.

No one should be surprised by the poor participation rates among illegal aliens. We are required by law to complete the Census. Of course, why would illegal aliens pay any attention to that small detail? They’ve already trespassed into the country and possibly broken other laws such as using fake I.D., identity theft, or related crimes. What’s one more infraction?

The next time you hear someone tell you that illegal aliens bring a positive benefit to America, remember this article. Remember how the U.S. will need to pay Census workers up to $25 per hour to track down those who didn’t fill out there forms, and how many of these individuals happen to be from states with large numbers of illegal aliens. Also remember how many of the people who don’t fill out the Census will be the ones who use the resources denied to their state because of their lack of participation.

Do you still think illegal aliens have a positive net benefit?

I came across an article today, and I’m having trouble believing what I read. It discussed California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s idea of paying to build prisons in Mexico to house prisoners who are in the U.S. illegally. Schwarzenegger claims that the plan could save the state more than $1 billion, which could be used for higher education.

So, why am I in disbelief? It’s because of some stats provided by the Governator: Out of 170,000 inmates in California’s prison system, more than 20,000 are <del datetime="2010-01-27T22:33:49+00:00">undocumented workers</del> illegal aliens. Don’t liberals always say that <del datetime="2010-01-27T22:33:49+00:00">undocumented workers</del> illegal aliens come here to earn an honest living (after trespassing of course), and that they contribute more financially than what they cost? Well, these numbers seem to fly in the face of their reasoning.

Since 12% of California’s prison population consists of <del datetime="2010-01-27T22:33:49+00:00">undocumented workers</del> illegal aliens, wouldn’t Californians be $1 billion better off if the illegals were prevented from coming here, or deported soon after being discovered? Of course, $1 billion is just the tip of the iceberg. What about court costs, legal aid, and the indirect costs associated with their crimes? The United States has its fair share of criminals. We don’t need to have any more imported from abroad.

A recent study found that <del datetime="2010-01-27T22:33:49+00:00">undocumented workers</del> illegal aliens cost the state of California more than $9 billion each year. This number is considered “a bottom range number.” Basically, if there were no <del datetime="2010-01-27T22:33:49+00:00">undocumented workers</del> illegal aliens, California’s $19 billion deficit would be more than cut in half. Shouldn’t this be obvious to more people?

Now, back to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to reduce prison costs by building prisons in Mexico. There are some aspects I like, and some I don’t. I believe they should be sent back to Mexico, but not at taxpayer expense. Why not deport them and protect the border like we should have been all along?

I don’t drive much, and being a frugal guy, I am always looking for ways to save money. When shopping for auto insurance, I always wished I could find a plan that rewarded me for not driving much. Think about it: All else being equal, a person who drives 1,000 miles per year is less likely to get into a car accident than someone who drives 15,000 miles per year. This business model makes sense, but is nonexistent.

Auto insurance is based on risk. The riskier a driver is, the more they pay. Insurance companies look at a myriad of demographic factors such as age, marital status, and place of residence. They also consider credit reports, driving history, and the type of car you drive. If they are going to consider all these facts, then why not take the amount of miles driven into account? Again, fewer miles would mean fewer accidents and fewer claims.

Fortunately, it looks like California might be moving to a pay-by-the-mile auto insurance structure. Basically, it would involve buying a certain amount of insured miles, and if those run out, buying more. For example, you might buy 10,000 miles for a year, but if you think you are going to go over, you can buy another 1,000 miles.

The program has the potential to save consumers a lot of money, especially if they drive sparingly. It could enable many people to purchase cars they wouldn’t other wise be able to afford because of the lower rates, and it might even encourage some people to use public transportation more often.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke at a democratic gathering recently, and was heckled by the crowd. One notable instance was when Assemblyman Tom Ammiano shouted, “you lie!” Well, it looks like the Governor wasn’t too happy with what transpired at the gathering.

In a veto message to Tom Ammiano, Schwarzenegger decided to get poetic by including an acrostic poem in the body of the letter. As you might know, an acrostic poem uses the first letter from each line to spell a word. Take a look at the message below:
