If you needed more proof about the Obama Administration’s disconnect from the average American, here it is: The State Department wrote a report to the United Nation’s human rights commissioner detailing the federal government’s attempt to derail Arizona’s immigration law.

Yes, you read that correctly. Essentially, the federal government is categorizing a state law as a human rights abuse, and detailing how they plan to stop it with court challenges. Of course, they probably don’t mention that it merely codifies federal law at the state level, and has the support of an overwhelming majority of Americans. Those facts were conveniently not mentioned in order to make us better fit in with the world community that Barry Obama is constantly trying to appease with apologies.

I have no doubt that Barack Obama and his administration would love to have open borders and essentially gut existing immigration laws rather than merely not enforcing them. Of course, he doesn’t have the nerve to come out and say it. Although, he did come out in support of the Ground Zero Victory Mosque, so who knows what he is liable to say?

I’d like to take a moment to thank Arizona Governor Jan Brewer for signing a bill into law which will greatly reduce the number of illegal aliens entering the United States along the Mexican border. The law will make it a crime to be in the United States illegally, and will allow police officers to request individuals to prove citizenship. Of course, there are many detractors with their own agendas who don’t care about the destruction caused by illegal aliens.

You would expect to hear about some local groups criticizing the law, but criticism is coming from some unusual places. Namely, the Mexican and Guatemalan governments. I guess they’re afraid their citizens won’t be allowed to trespass into the U.S., steal American jobs, then send remittances back home. What will Mexico do without all the money its citizen invaders send home? They’ll have to actually work on trying to improve their country so their citizens want to stay.

What I also have trouble with is the opposition of Latinos who are legal citizens. I can’t understand why people who may have waited years to come to the U.S. and endured great hardship, expense, and uncertainty, would support common criminals. Of course, there’s no shortage of Latino groups who are fanning the flames and scaring people by talking about how the law will be targeting “immigrants”. In truth, the law is actually targeting “illegal immigrants”, but of course, being truthful and including the word “illegal” might actually result in many Latinos not being scared, and leave many citizens in agreement with the law. After all, we can’t allow the truth to get in the way of their propaganda campaign.

We need to gain control of our borders so we can control how many people are allowed into the United States each year. This is important for economic, cultural, and safety reasons. Unfortunately, many don’t understand these points, including Barack Obama. This excerpt demonstrates the disconnect between Barack Obama, the American people, and common sense:

Obama called the Arizona bill “misguided” Friday and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it’s legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level — or leave the door open to “irresponsibility by others.”

“That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona, which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe,” Obama said.

Make no mistake: Barack Obama’s idea of fairness is to offer amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens who have already shown disdain for our laws, and an apparent lack of interest in assimilating. Do you really think Barack Obama is going to guard the border? Jail business owners who give American jobs to illegal aliens? Deport those who spit on our laws? No way. After all, he’s already ordering the Justice Department to examine Arizona’s law, so legal challenges will be right around the corner.

Arizona also requested an additional 3,000 troops to help protect the border. Have they arrived yet? No. Will they ever arrive? I wouldn’t count on it. Obama also let his opinion be known when his buddy Skip Gates threw a temper tantrum when a police officer reported to a call (remember the “beer summit”?). Did he make any mention of the Arizona rancher who was allegedly murdered by illegal aliens? None that I know of.

Barack Obama has let the country know what is important to him: Protecting individuals who break the law. As for Governor Jan Brewer, she is being forced to take care on the work the federal government has failed. My hope is that more states follow Arizona’s lead by making life difficult for illegal aliens. 50 different attempts to come up with immigration laws aren’t ideal, but in the presence of a leader who ignores the law, it’s our best hope.

The Arizona House voted 31 to 22 on a bill which would compel Presidential candidates to prove they meet the Constitutional requirements to run for office. If they don’t comply, they will not be allowed on the ballot.

If this bill passes the Senate and is signed by Governor Jan Brewer, it could bring an end to complaints from birthers…or make matters worse. The outcome will be largely determined by Barack Obama. Will he continue his arrogant refusal to release the information, or will he finally permit the press to see the official document?

I’m on record as believing that Barack Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States. I don’t see his refusal to release his birth certificate as an attempt to hide the truth, I see it as the actions of an arrogant man who feels he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. Well, that could change in 2012.

If Barack Obama does make his birth certificate public, it will just make a small minority of conservatives look like fools and allow liberals to say, “I told you so”. If he refuses, he will suddenly lend legitimacy to those who doubt his status and increase their ranks. If the bill passes, what will he do?

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a bill into law which allows adults to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. It’s nice to see that some places still take the 2nd Amendment seriously.

This bill has its detractors, but they clearly aren’t thinking straight. They might be worried about honest citizens carrying guns, but I’m not. What worries me are criminals who carry weapons for the sole purpose of committing crimes. You can pass a law banning people from having guns or carrying them without a permit, but in the end, the only ones who will follow it are honest, responsible citizens. Criminals will continue to carry guns, since someone who regularly assaults or robs people probably won’t care much about breaking another law.

There certainly is the potential for accidents, but detractors seem to ignore the potentially deterring effect of carrying a weapon. If criminals don’t know who is carrying a gun, will they think twice about committing a crime? It seems possible to me.

By the way, it’s also worth noting that related bills failed in the past. while Janet Napolitano was Governor, she vetoed bills that would have reduced penalties for carrying a concealed weapon and allowed partial concealment. Janet Napolitano is considered a contender for the Supreme Court. If chosen, she would almost definitely water-down and weaken our Second Amendment rights.
