Raising the debt ceiling: Here we go again!
Barack Obama wants Congress to raise the debt ceiling again. Democrats love spending and will vote for any increase he wants, while Republicans will fight any increase without major spending cuts. That just about sums up the argument, on a very simple, superficial level.
The National Debt is a growing problem which needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, the President and Congressional leaders don’t see it as a problem. They say they do, but they don’t
Barack Obama has done a horrendous job as President. Federal spending is out of control and the National Debt is growing rapidly. John Boehner and the Republicans have every right to demand major spending cuts. Unfortunately, there are two problems. First, they should have started acting as the debt ceiling police years ago when George W. Bush and his predecessors were President. They also need to propose meaningful cuts, not just token cuts to appeal to the base. » read more

Who’s the demon?
Remember how Democrats were criticizing Republicans for inflammatory rhetoric after Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot? How about all the times top Democrats made it seem like Republicans weren’t ready to compromise? To hear them tell it, Democrats are above the fray, while those allegedly unreasonable Republicans were impossible to deal with.
Well, if you’ve been taking sips of the liberal Kool Aid between the times your head was in the sand, you’ll see that both parties contribute to the animosity in Washington. How can you work with, or take seriously, someone who calls you a demon? Is it really that hard to maintain a collegial relationship?

Message to John Boehner: Stop the crying
I’m not an old fashioned person by any stretch of the imagination, so I don’t see anything wrong with men crying. I also don’t see anything wrong with men crying in public. What I do find strange, is a person who would cry at the drop of a hat because of legislation or policy issues.
When John Boehner becomes the Speaker of the House, he will be third in line for the Presidency. I don’t want a wishy washy person as one of our leaders. Here’s some advice: Man up.
One more thing: This comes from a registered Republican.

John Boehner’s criticisms fall on deaf ears
In his radio address, Republican Representative John Boehner criticized the Democrat’s health-care reform plan. He rightly points out its high cost, unacceptable government involvement, and potential to actually make things worse. Boehner mentioned Republican ideas that are often discussed, but quickly rejected by the Democrats: Buy insurance accross state lines, allow organizations and business to pool their resources, and enact tort reform.
As someone who is employed by a small business, I can certainly see the value in having the ability to pool with other companies. Many states are dominated by just one or two private insurers, so opening competition would likely reduce costs and increase choices. Of course, the Democrats also agree there is a need to ensure competition. The difference is that Democrats want competition to come from a government option. This would eventually bankrupt private insurers, since they wouldn’t be competing on a level playing field. If this occurred, we would essentially be stuck with an unofficial single-payer system. Interesting way of sneaking it in through the back door, don’t you think? » read more
