Felipe Calderone wants to protect the rights of “migrants”
Does Mexican President Felipe Calderone ever listen to himself speak? The latest bit of nonsense comes after a 15 year old Mexican citizen was shot and killed by U.S. border patrol agents. The boy’s group came across the border and some were detained. When this happened, they began hurling rocks at agents, who needed to defend themelves.
The group came into the United States illegally, then started assaulting federal agents. Despite this, Felipe Calderone says Mexico “will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants.” » read more

Another example of Barack Obama’s poor judgement
Senators John McCain and John Kyl requested that 6,000 troops be sent to the Mexican border. In a move designed to show he did something while not doing much at all, Barack Obama approved just 1,200 soldiers be sent to the border. It’s pretty obvious Barack Obama doesn’t see border security as a problem.
I have a great idea. Next time the President is looking for a place to take the First Family on vacation, he should choose a place near the border. It’ll be great! The kid’s immersion among Spanish speaking residents will help the kids pick up the language, and the excitement can’t be beat. Besides aliens crossing the border, and many of them committing crimes, we have an ever expanding drug war straddling the U.S./Mexico border. It’s just like a midsummer Hollywood action film! Unfortunately, it’s not made up, and Americans are suffering. » read more

Hypocrisy: Mexico criticized for mistreatment of migrants

Mexico's treatment of migrants has been criticized by Amnesty International
The Mexican government has criticized Arizona for passing a law which would essentially enforce federal immigration laws. Mexico, which often assists its huddled masses in escaping its economic wasteland for the promise to be found in the United States, lacks credibility on the issue. Rather than criticizing its neighbor to the north, it should focus on the serious problems within its own borders.
Amnesty International has referred to Mexico’s treatment of migrants as “a human rights crisis“. According to Amnesty International, many migrants are are beaten, raped or murdered. For those who are victimized, there isn’t much recourse. Here’s an excerpt from Article 67 of Mexico’s population law: » read more

How do you feel about combining comprehensive immigration reform and an economic stimulus bill?
If you read this blog regularly, you might remember how I critiqued the immigration bill being sponsored by Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer. As you might recall, I didn’t like it, and I suggested some issues that need to be addressed in an effective immigration bill. Unfortunately, I don’t think my ideas went far enough.
The exact number of illegal aliens in the United States isn’t known, but I’ve heard estimates ranging between 12 million and 20 million. I also read that illegal aliens have around 8 million jobs. This made me think: What if we could combine a second economic stimulus that would put people to work, while addressing immigration reform? » read more
