Poll: Scott Brown ahead of Martha Coakley by 9 points
The latest Politico poll has Scott Brown’s lead over Martha Coakley expanding to 9 points. You may remember that Martha Coakley led Brown by more than 30 points less than two weeks ago. I can’t remember a time when a candidate lost so much ground so quickly.
I’m very optimistic that Scott Brown will win the seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy. If he does, it will send an overwhelming message to Barack Obama and every Democrat in Congress. Americans are tired of big government, and they plan on letting them know just how much in November 2010 and 2012.

The Obama Limbo: How low will his approval rating go?
A new Rasmussen poll finds that Barack Obama’s approval rating continues to fall. Just 24% of Americans strongly approve of the job he is doing, while 42% strongly disapprove. When you combine those who strongly approve and somewhat approve, the number rises to only 44%. The same poll also found that 40% of Americans approve of the current health care plan, while 56% oppose the plan. So, what does all this mean?
For one thing, it illustrates that the President’s popularity is sinking steadily, and that Congressmen will not be cast aside for disagreeing with his administration. When the $787 billion stimulus bill was passed, I had the feeling that the President’s popularity helped suppress some dissent. The President will not have that luxury in the near future. » read more

Barack Obama’s approval rating continues to fall
What do you think about Barack Obama? For many Americans, the answer to this question has changed dramatically over the last 11 months. According to Gallup, 68% of American approved of Barack Obama shortly after his inauguration, while just 12% disapproved. Today, the latest approval rating is just 50%, while those who disapprove has increased to 44%.
Support among Democrats has been steady, while there has been a drop in support among Republicans, and a substantial decrease among independents. If you compare Barack Obama’s poll numbers to other Presidents at the same point in their Presidency, the numbers aren’t good. George W. Bush leads at 87%, followed by John F. Kennedy at 79%, George H.W. Bush at 70%, Dwight Eisenhower at 60%, Richard Nixon at 57%, Jimmy Carter at 56%, Ronald Reagan at 52%, and Bill Clinton at 49%. Isn’t it strange that the only President on the list to have a lower approval rating was also widely criticized for his handling of health care reform? What a coincidence! » read more
