Michael Bloomberg, national suicide, and illegal aliens
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg doesn’t like the immigration law passed by Arizona. Here are some of his comments on the law:
“This is not good for the country. I don’t agree with it,” he said. “We love immigrants here.”
“We have to get real about the 12 million undocumented here,” the mayor said. “We’re not going to deport them. Give them permanent status. Don’t make them citizens unless they can qualify, but give them permanent status and let’s get on with this.”

How do you feel about combining comprehensive immigration reform and an economic stimulus bill?
If you read this blog regularly, you might remember how I critiqued the immigration bill being sponsored by Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer. As you might recall, I didn’t like it, and I suggested some issues that need to be addressed in an effective immigration bill. Unfortunately, I don’t think my ideas went far enough.
The exact number of illegal aliens in the United States isn’t known, but I’ve heard estimates ranging between 12 million and 20 million. I also read that illegal aliens have around 8 million jobs. This made me think: What if we could combine a second economic stimulus that would put people to work, while addressing immigration reform? » read more
