New York Times reporter Jose Antonio Vargas admits to being an illegal alien
Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for the New York Times, has admitted that he is an illegal alien. In his story, Vargas talks about how he came to the United States illegally 18 years ago when he was 12. He also details all the illegal and unethical things he and his family have done to stay here.
From what I’ve read, Jose Antonio Vargas is an intelligent, hard-working individual who has accomplished a great deal in his 30 years. He and his family have also broken immigration laws and committed document fraud, and now he is going public with his crimes. This might not be a popular sentiment, but the government needs to act. If it doesn’t, what kind of message is it sending? » read more

The United States should make Hamid Karzai’s wish come true
Barack Obama wants to bring 30,000 soldiers home by November 2012, while the Pentagon thinks he should hold off until 2013. My guess is that Obama wants to make it look like he’s serious about removing soldiers from Afghanistan leading up to the Presidential Election. Unfortunately, this isn’t good enough.
I’d like to see all of our soldiers come home in a matter of a couple of months. Some would say that this is unreasonable, and that it would jeopardized alleged gains we’ve made in the region. I say that’s nonsense. We’ve spent hundreds of billions of dollars on military spending and public works projects in Afghanistan. That’s bad, but the worst part are the soldiers who were injured or killed. Afghanistan is benefiting from out presence much more than the United States. We need to leave. » read more

My guess: Rick Perry will run for President
Several members of Newt Gingrich’s Presidential campaign have quit…at the same time. A few of these individuals have links to Texas Governor Rick Perry. Perry was mentioned as a possible candidate, but said he wouldn’t run…then said he might be considering it.
Who knows what Rick Perry will do, but it seems really coincidental that while he is thinking about a run (again), some former staffers suddenly quit the Gingrich campaign en masse. My guess? Rick Perry will announce his candidacy by the 4th of July, and many of those former Gingrich campaign employees will find their way onto his team. » read more

Julian Assange: Not as evil as you think
I think it’s safe to say that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is easily the most infamous person in the world. The big question is whether all the negative publicity is warranted.
Some have compared Julian Assange to a terrorist, and many have said repeatedly that he will have blood on his hands, since many of his leaks could endanger people. Of course, many of the people who are up-in-arms were also singled out for their own mistakes, so they might not be the best of choices if one is seeking an opinion. I’m not going to pretend there will be no negative ramifications from the Wikileak cables, but I do feel it will have some positive effects. » read more

Thoughts on South Korea
As I write this, North Korea is once again threatening South Korea, and readying surface to air missiles. A few days ago, they attacked a South Korean island killing two civilians and two South Korean soldiers. You might also remember that North Korea was accused by the South of firing a torpedo that destroyed a naval vessel, killing 46 South Korean soldiers.
When will it end, or put another way, when will it begin? When will the threats, attacks, production of nuclear weapons, and arms sales to unstable nations end? Unfortunately, it looks like it will only end when war begins, or should I say continues, since the Koreas have technically been at war since the middle of last century. » read more

Felipe Calderone wants to protect the rights of “migrants”
Does Mexican President Felipe Calderone ever listen to himself speak? The latest bit of nonsense comes after a 15 year old Mexican citizen was shot and killed by U.S. border patrol agents. The boy’s group came across the border and some were detained. When this happened, they began hurling rocks at agents, who needed to defend themelves.
The group came into the United States illegally, then started assaulting federal agents. Despite this, Felipe Calderone says Mexico “will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants.” » read more

Fidel Castro likes Obamacare
Fidel Castro thinks Barack Obama did a great job bringing Obamacare to the masses. My only question is when Hugo Chavez will release a statement of support and admiration for Barack Hussein Obama’s latest government power grab.
During the election, many of the Obamessiah’s followers would quickly disagree with any criticism of his socialist tendencies. After taking over banks, insurance companies, car companies, the health care industry, and student loans in just 14 months, is there any doubt what this man is up to? I’m waiting for him to take over a news organization next. He can have his own state run media outlet, just like Hugo Chavez. Hey, do you think MSNBC is available?

When will Pope Benedict take responsibility for his actions?

Pope Benedict criticized Irish Bishops for doing wha the Vatican expected of them
Pope Benedict criticized Irish bishops for “grave errors in judgment,” which led to many children being abused by priests and nuns. Catholic Bishops in Ireland deserve the criticism, since they were complacent while priests and other members of the Church harmed young parishioners. Unfortunately, Pope Benedict glossed over the major cause: The Vatican.
The abuse allegations in Ireland are not confined to that country alone. Allegations came to light in the United States several years ago, along with Germany and many other European nations. It’s also likely that the number of allegations will increase as victims gain the courage to face the Catholic Church and their abusers. » read more

Barack Obama’s Russian blunder
The Obama administration has signed an agreement with Russia which would remove observers from factories which manufacture long-range missiles. The administration claims that it isn’t their fault. The agreement was supposedly reached during George W. Bush’s Presidency and they had to comply.
The question isn’t whether Bush or Obama are responsible for this horrible decision, it’s whether Bush and Obama are to blame, or just Obama. Russia removed its observers from the U.S. 8 years ago when production of these missiles ceased. On the other hand, missile production has been on-going in Russia and shows no signs of stopping. » read more
